First steps

She took her first steps today. Only her Baba saw it the first three times, but I saw it too the fourth time and then several more times during the day. What fun! So exciting! And to day is a special day, a Baha'i Holy day, the Martyrdom of the Bab. (If you're wondering about the discrepancy with the dates, it's because here, for historical reasons I presume, we commemorate many of the Bahai holy days according to the Muslim calender). It is, of course, as sombre holy day, but we have good associations with it. Last year on the same holy day, first of all it rained in the middle of a heat wave, and secondly we were informed that Lil's passport had arrived, making it possible (at the last moment) to take her to meet her Grandmother in Turkey. Her Baba had gone on ahead, and my mother was here. We spent the day traveling to Tel Aviv to get the passport, arranging the tickets and packing, and left for the airport in the middle of that night. Then, as now, it felt like a blessing to have something so personally significant happen on this day.

How exciting - Lily is now a bona fide toddler.
